The Alberta Government also recently signed a number of agreements with Citizenship and Immigration Canada to attract more foreign students to Alberta.
Can I transfer course credits between post-secondary institutions?
In many cases, yes. The Alberta Transfer Guide contains the transfer agreements between post-secondary institutions in Alberta as well as Aurora College and Nunavut Arctic College. Learners who wish to transfer are encouraged to consult the Guide and to contact the post-secondary institution to which they are transferring.
What are the admission requirements for post-secondary institutions?
Publicly funded post-secondary institutions in Alberta independently determine the minimum requirements for applications to the programs they offer. In many cases, these institutions also feature a competitive enrolment process. As such, a student who applies to an institution and meets all of the minimum requirements may not receive an offer of admission. This should be taken into consideration when submitting an application. For complete information regarding admission requirements, please contact individual post-secondary institutions.
In order to assist students, Alberta Advanced Education and Technology has prepared charts detailing application and admission averages for undergraduate degree and university transfer programs in the province that are directly accessible from high school. Each table provides details on the minimum average needed for an application, the competitive average required for an offer of admission, the type of admission process used, and the number of first-year seats available in a program for the fall of 2007, and is organized by institution. Please refer to each institutional table for information regarding a specific program.
