February 23, 2005Chairs appointed to Medicine Hat College and Olds College
Edmonton... Randy Lehr has been appointed chair of the Board of Governors for Medicine Hat College, and Stirling McLeod has been appointed chair of the Board of Governors for Olds College. Both have served as public members of their respective boards for several years. The appointments were made February 23 by Advanced Education and Technology Minister Dave Hancock.
"Randy and Stirling have each demonstrated strong leadership and passion for post-secondary education, and have outstanding track records in their communities. I know they will do a great job in their new positions as board chairs," Hancock said. "I look forward to working closely with them in the months ahead, especially with so many new initiatives happening in Alberta's Advanced Education and Technology system."
Randy Lehr was born and raised in the Medicine Hat area, and has been in the farming and ranching business for many years. Randy and his family are active community members. He has been a member of the Medicine Hat Kinsmen Club for 18 years and has served in various roles including president. He has worked closely with the Medicine Hat College Foundation, helping to raise money for the college, and has been a public member of the college's Board of Governors since November 2000.
Stirling McLeod is general manager of Stirdon Systems, Ltd. He is a successful agri-business entrepreneur and is active in the Olds community in many different capacities. He was president of the Olds Board of Trade, the Olds Sportsmen Recreational Association, the Olds Minor Hockey Association, and the Olds Minor Ball Association. Stirling has been involved with the Olds College Foundation, raising funds for the institution, and has been a public member of the Board of Governors of the college for several years.
