After the Application
1. When can I expect the ACES Plan grant to be deposited into my child’s RESP?ACES Plan grants are normally deposited into eligible RESPs 6-8 weeks after an eligible application is received.
2. How will the funds be deposited into the RESP?The governments of Alberta and Canada work together to administer ACES Plan grant payments.
Once the federal government receives notification that an individual has opened an RESP account and applied for an ACES Plan grant, funds are deposited into the eligible child's RESP account.
3. I applied over three months ago and haven’t received the grant yet. Why hasn't it been deposited into my child's RESP?Applications may be rejected for several reasons. Your RESP provider is notified of every grant payment and rejection affecting their clients, so please contact your RESP provider to learn more.
Alternatively, the Canada Education Savings Program (CESP) may provide information on the status of your application. You may contact the CESP toll-free at 1-888-276-3624.
4. I would like to switch RESP providers and transfer my ACES Plan grant. Is this possible?Yes. You can transfer your grant as long as you are transferring to another RESP provider offering the ACES Plan. Your new RESP provider will need to complete the proper transfer documentation.
If you are transferring to an RESP provider that does not currently offer the ACES Plan, your grant money will be returned to the government. You have the option to reapply for the ACES Plan grant if your provider begins offering the grant or you switch to an RESP provider who offers the ACES Plan grant within 6 years of the eligibile age.
