Alberta Value-Added and Technology Commercialization Task Force
Accelerating Alberta’s value-added production and increasing the commercialization of new ideas and discoveries in the province are the goals of a new task force assembled by the Alberta government to help our province gain a stronger competitive edge in the global knowledge-based economy.“The Value-Added and Technology Commercialization Task Force was established at the request of the Premier and reflects the priority this government places on diversifying Alberta’s economy,” said Doug Horner, Minister of Advanced Education and Technology. “The task force will capture the knowledge of individuals with expertise in value-added products and technology commercialization and will identify the critical actions necessary to accelerate growth in this area and build a stronger Alberta.”
The task force will build on the province’s solid base of research activity, value-added and technology companies, and agencies and programs already supporting technology commercialization and the discovery and development of innovative value-added products. Bringing together people with diverse experience to expand and enhance this base, the task force will create a list of critical actions and best practices to boost growth in these areas.
